How a Master Key System Works
Every lock in the system is keyed so it opens with its own key and with one or more higher-level keys:
- Change keys open a single door — an office, a storage room, a unit.
- Sub-master keys open a group of doors, such as one department or one floor.
- The master key opens every door in the system.
A cleaning crew can have one key for the areas they service, a manager can have one key for their floor, and the owner carries one key for everything.
Restricted Keys and High-Security Locks
A master key system only works if people can't make their own copies. Restricted keyways use key blanks that aren't sold at hardware stores, so duplicates go through an authorized locksmith. High-security cylinders add protection against picking, bumping and drilling, and are a good fit for exterior doors, server rooms and stockrooms.

- Key chart — we design the levels and keep a record of which key opens which lock.
- Install — we rekey or replace cylinders, then cut and label the keys.
